Eugene R. Butler has lived and practiced in Central Ohio since earning his license in 1986. Gene married Kendall in 1987, and they have one child, who keeps them busy with her horse and other interests. Kendall is a registered nurse and has been employed in the health care field for over 25 years.
Gene started his own firm Eugene R. Butler Co., LPA in June 2000, after working for both a major national law firm and before that a smaller local firm. Gene started his career as a law clerk with the Ohio Tenth Appellate District Court of Appeals.
Gene focuses his practice primarily in the area of litigation, in which he has extensive trial and appellate experience in both federal and state courts. Gene is admitted to the bars of Ohio, the United State District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has represented a diverse cross section of clients in simple and complex family law situations, including divorce, custody and support proceedings, both locally and in interstate matters. Gene also has represented numerous business owners in a variety of settings, including shareholder litigation, contract disputes and business valuation matters.
Gene earned his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ohio State University and earned his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Capital University where he was the Executive Notes Editor for the Capital University Law Review. Gene is a member of the Columbus, Ohio State (appointed to the Family Law Committee), and American (member, Family Law Section) bar associations.
